Science and Technology
Experiment, discover, and explore! This phrase sets the tone for our science curriculum, which cultivates our students’ natural curiosity about themselves, each other, and the world around them.
Our emphasis on science reflects our desire to educate a new generation of scientists. A multi-million dollar renovation of our laboratories re-energized our already comprehensive science curriculum. In laboratories specifically designed for each division, students are surrounded by and immersed in the world of science–they see, hear, and touch the objects of their study. This hands-on approach to learning instills a love of science that begins in the younger grades and is nurtured throughout their time here.
Technology at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s is more than an academic subject; it is an integral part of the way students learn in all of their classes. Our full-time director of technology manages two age-appropriate, fully equipped computer labs that allow teachers to integrate technology into their lessons. Technology instruction begins in second grade, when students have developed some of the basic skills that will help them explore these resources. We work closely with our students to ensure that their experiences with technology and the Internet are informed, productive and safe.
