St. Hilda’s &
St. Hugh’s Fund

The St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's Fund focuses on enriching the daily learning experience of our students. From our generous financial aid program to faculty professional development to the materials and supplies that enhance each lesson, community support of the annual fund ensures that we can continue to make every day vibrant and meaningful. Join us to make remarkable things possible for our students—today and in all the days to come.

Last year, 100 percent of our board, faculty, and parents made gifts to the Fund. In addition, 124 alumni and alumni parents, and 59 grandparents supported the Fund, demonstrating that students are not the only members of our school family invested in our mission.

Financial Aid

The core of our mission is to make a St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's education accessible to qualified children from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Twenty percent of the school’s operating budget is dedicated to financial aid providing tuition assistance to 24 percent of the student body. Your annual fund dollars help support this program.

Professional Development

Learning doesn't stop with our students. Faculty are constantly striving to become better educators. Annual fund dollars give the faculty and staff access to continuing education programs, summer trips, and workshops, the benefits of which are brought back to the classrooms.

Field Trips

Field trips enhance and supplement our rich curriculum. Trips to museums, interactive farms, overnight trips to Philadelphia, Washington, and Boston, all create memorable and tangible experiences that reinforce classroom learning and personal growth. Your gifts to the Fund provide these valuable growth experiences for your child.

In-School Cultural Celebrations

Your gifts to the annual fund help us celebrate the rich diversity of our St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's community. Our students learn to honor and celebrate the differences that make every individual an important member of the St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's family.

Athletics and Wellness

Movement for the early childhood students and daily P.E. and athletics for SK through eighth grade are essential to our program. Lifetime sports, equipment, uniforms, and bus and field rentals for our competitive sports teams give our upper school students opportunities to develop a healthy approach to wellness, which is further enhanced by our locally sourced lunches. Your annual fund dollars support this integral part of our program.

The Arts

From our smallest lambs in our annual Christmas Pageant; to the all-school art show; to the eighth grade film festival; the annual fund supports the many facets of this program through the purchase of materials, costumes, instruments, and equipment.

Our technology program reinforces what students are learning in the classroom and gives them the opportunity to safely explore the world available through the Internet. The annual fund provides faculty training that allows teachers to stay informed with the fast-paced advances in educational technology and supports the purchase and maintenance of new, updated equipment.

One of the nation's greatest mountaineers—the first American to summit both Mount Everest and K2—visited Gordon Chapel to offer lessons in perseverance, resilience, and teamwork. Dr. Louis Reichardt, the grandfather of one of our second graders, told the story of his team's historic climb up the east face of Everest in 1983.
Upper school math teacher Libby Miles is on a mission: to dispel the myth of the "Math Mind." "There's a misconception that you have to have a certain kind of brain to be good at math, and that can directly impede students' success," Miles said.
St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's ushered in the Year of the Monkey with its annual Asian New Year Celebration! Students in the Mandarin Chinese program, from junior kindergarten through eighth grade, performed songs and dances to show off their language skills and share cultural traditions they have learned about in class.
How does the study of weather help us to find life on on other planets? A visitor from Columbia University's astronomy department helped fourth graders make connections between the principles they're studying in science and the sophisticated research happening at a university in our own backyard.
