Master Building Plan
In the last 14 years, St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's has rebuilt a school -- and a program. Starting in 2000, the Board of Trustees approved a Master Building Plan focused on systematically rebuilding the aging facility, floor by floor. With each renovation, faculty and parents united to help the school rejuevenate its program, changing the way students learn and transforming a facility that is designed specifically for elementary school children.
What we have learned with each renovation is the powerful impact that a child's surroundings have on his or her experience of school. As we work and play in these spaces each day, what we know about children is reinforced; that they crave closeness and connection with their teachers and classmates. In short, each new space enlivened and enhanced an already strong program and gave our talented faculty new opportunities to stretch their students and themselves.
Among the essential renovations that have taken place:
C.V. Starr Library and Learning Center
Lobby, Lower Level Music Rooms, and Wall Climbing Room
Playdeck and Gym Floor
Seventh Floor Art Studios and Alumni Center
Sixth Floor Science Labs; Classrooms for Mandarin and Music
Smart Boards installed in every classroom
Second, Third, and Fourth Floor Classrooms; Playdeck; HVAC system overhaul
State-of-the-art Theater upgrades
Dining Rooms and Kitchen
New Gym Floor
