 | Lower Division Early Childhood (Beginners-Senior Kindergarten) Our school begins with a beginners program, for our youngest students. We offer beginners a nurturing environment with specially trained teachers who focus on children's early language development and their need to learn to play together. Under our individualized approach, separation from parents is a gradual process, and can take weeks or months as necessary.
Teachers in nursery, junior kindergarten, and senior kindergarten classes plan days that use play to actively engage the young student in science, math, art, language, and pre-reading experiences. A wide variety of theme studies throughout the year incorporate literature, interactive projects, and class discussion.
Classrooms are carefully organized to create a learning environment that allows the children to grow in all aspects of their development. Classroom areas are supplied with materials through which fine and gross motor skills are strengthened and developed. In senior kindergarten, formal math instruction begins, along with formal language arts instruction using phonics and a literature-based curriculum.
Each day's unique schedule divides work times with eating, rest, and opportunities for outdoor and indoor play. |
