The C. V. Starr Library and Learning Center is one of our school's treasures. The library's primary mission is to assist students in becoming effective users of information and to nurture a lifelong love of reading. This multimedia facility includes a book collection that contains more than 20,000 titles. The library is an attractive, spacious environment where students can feel comfortable and work productively.
Library orientation sessions are offered to instruct students in the effective use of the collection. Students in the lower division through grade 4 have a weekly library period. In grades 5-8, teachers coordinate library use with the librarian, and students visit the library as a class for research or independent study.
Hours The library is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. for reading, research, and returning borrowed materials. The librarian is available from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Circulation Policy Students in the lower division and grade 4 may borrow books primarily during their weekly library class. Grades 5 through 8 may borrow materials at any time during the school day as long as the school librarian is present. The number of books a student may take from the library will depend on their grade level.
The borrowing privilege for all students is one week. Library materials are also lent to parents and/or guardians for a two-week period.
Damaged or Lost Materials The library materials are there for the use and enjoyment of the school community. We do not charge late fines, but if a book is lost or damaged, the borrower will be required to pay the replacement cost. |
