Bringing his passion for writing and his experience at Trinity School, James Cross ’16 returned to Joan Wentworth's eighth grade English classroom for the second time this fall as a guest instructor.
James offered a “masterful” presentation on composing an analytical essay, Ms. Wentworth said. “On the very day he presented here, he received his acceptance from Princeton. I have been so lucky to have worked with James, and so many students like him. It's both thrilling and humbling!”
James used three Tim O'Brien short stories that deal with the subject of war to delve deeply into topics such as structure, perspective, effective descriptive language, developing a strong thesis, and common writing mistakes to avoid.
“I love it when my former students return to share their high school experiences with my current eighth graders,” said Ms. Wentworth. “It does us all good.”
