Hudson Miller ‘20 Commits to Yale

Currently a junior at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut, Hudson Miller ‘20 has committed to Yale University to play hockey upon his graduation next school year. As he prepares to start this new chapter of his life, he will continue to prepare on and off the rink, focusing on being ready academically and athletically, both of which he feels well prepared for thanks to Avon and St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s.

Hudson credits his time at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s and the connections he made, with shaping who he is today. He shared, “Being at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s was one of the best experiences of my life. I always looked forward to coming to school each day.” Hudson reflected that the daily exposure to physical education and the support of classroom teachers have become not only fond memories but essential to his present success.

Having enrolled at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s in junior kindergarten, Hudson spoke of how the drive to work hard was instilled at an early age by Coaches Parker and Fritz, who continue to be supporters of Hudson to this day. When asked about Hudson, Coach Fritz shared, “With Hudson, it is always about team mentality. He is incredibly humble and always puts others first.” In speaking about his athletic abilities, Coach Fritz can clearly remember Hudson’s early days at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s, and the natural athleticism he exuded. “I can remember throwing a ball, each time going higher and higher, until I eventually was touching the ceiling, and as a four year old, he was able to catch that ball every single time,” he recalled.

Known for their extraordinary academic reputation and championship wins, attending Yale will be a wonderful opportunity and an exciting next step for Hudson. We wish him the very best, and will be rooting for him on and off the rink!
