Basketball Update: Hawks Head to the Ivy League

Near the end of the 2017-18 basketball season, St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s Hawks have a lot to celebrate.

In their first year of competitive play, the sixth grade boys and girls teams have played well and represented the school proudly.

The 7-8 girls team, led by Coach Virgil Smiley and Coach Olivia Gardner, are undefeated in the NYCAL league, compiling a 10-0 record. The girls look forward to their last three league games and finishing their season on a high point.

The 7-8 boys team have created much excitement in the NYCAL league. Having knocked off the previously undefeated Columbia Prep squad, the team looks forward to a rematch today on our home court. “Our coaches, Sean Parker and Carmine Curcio, have instilled resilience, unselfish play, and a winning attitude in our young athletes,” says Patti Lesser, Director of P.E. and Athletics.
