Our very own Bryson Brunson ’17 won “Wayne Brady’s Comedy IQ” competition this summer! During the 10-week comedy and improv competition, Bryson shared his love of performing with the world. At St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s, Bryson's amazing acting chops and comedic timing were already on display—back in 2017, Bryson starred as Willy Wonka in the spring production of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
In the show’s finale, Brady praised Bryson’s comedic “unpredictability” and his “big heart.” The host described Bryson, who is now a senior at Friends Seminary in New York City, as the “emotional rock” of the cast, and someone who spoke and acted with a maturity beyond his years.
As the winner of Comedy IQ, Bryson walked away with $10,000, various recording equipment, a special guest appearance on BYUtv’s “Studio C” this fall, and the opportunity to perform with Brady on one of his tour dates.
You can watch Bryson’s episode of Studio C here, and you can watch the whole Comedy IQ series here. Congratulations, Bryson!
