Giving Tuesday, the global day of philanthropy, was a record-breaking day for St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's. Parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends donated: $523,688.04, making this the single largest day of giving in the school's history.
The school's graduates took the lead on Giving Tuesday. Their generosity was inspired, in part, by an “Alumni Challenge” grant issued by two families: if 100 or more alumni contributed, these families would match their donations up to $15,000. When all was said and done, 133 former students accepted the challenge, unlocking the grant.
Along with their financial gifts, donors shared photos and messages to illustrate what motivated them to give. Answers to the question, “What did St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's give to you?” ranged from silly to serious to sentimental.
"St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's has given me a leap towards wondrous possibilities, meaningful relationships, and a life as a professional,” said one member of the faculty.
“I give to St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's because every minute of every school day it provides a safe, sacred, enlightening, and loving environment for each and every student and parent,” said a current parent.
“St. Hilda's & St. Hugh’s gave me an open mind,” said an alumna. “I'm giving back on Giving Tuesday.”

“The pride that St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh's families and alumni feel is reflected in their extraordinary generosity,” said Kathryn Collins, Director of Development. “We are so grateful to all who joined our Giving Tuesday effort—they are helping to ‘shape the future’ for our current students and faculty, and all those who will follow them in the years to come.”
