When A Wrinkle in Time premieres in theaters, St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s students and alumni will be watching with particular interest and more than a bit of school pride. The beloved novel that inspired the film comes from a source close to home: legendary author Madeleine L’Engle. At the time of the book’s publication in 1962, L’Engle was teaching at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s—she served on the faculty from 1960-1966.
Of the six championships offered by New York City Athletic League team sports, St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s won three in the 2016-2017 school year. Physical education director Patti Lesser credits the school’s commitment to physical education, starting with movement in Beginners, daily P.E. starting in senior kindergarten, and team sports beginning in sixth grade.
Teachers and administrators at St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s enthusiastically embrace opportunities to expand their knowledge and advance their expertise.
