The St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's virtual tour is a great way to explore our 80,000 square foot school building.
Originally built in the 1960's, the school building was redesigned by the architectural firm Murphy Burnham & Buttrick. Classrooms are bright and spacious, utilizing the enormous windows found in each room. Within every classroom, zones of activity are defined at a range of scales, from cushioned window seats for reading to generous project areas featuring a micro-kitchen for experiential learning. Every detail is designed in response to the scale of the child, creating a healthy and age-appropriate environment for the students.
The school renovation has received a number of design awards, such as the 2019 National Society of American Architects Design Award of Honor, 2019 Faith & Form Magazine Liturgical/Interior Design Award, 2014 Interior Design Magazine Best of the Year Awards Finalist, received a SARA/National Design Award of Honor, a Boston Society of Architects Design Citation, and was cited for a 2015 Award of Merit from AIA New York State and a 2019 Design Merit Award from the New York Society of American Registered Architects.
